How to use
- Choose a unit: Paragraphs, Sentences or Words.
- Set How many, from 1 to 50.
- Leave Start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" on to open with the traditional line, or turn it off for text that starts mid-sentence like the rest of the passage.
- Copy to clipboard or Download .txt. Click Generate again any time for a fresh batch.
Classic placeholder text, generated fresh
Lorem Ipsum is filler text used to preview how a design looks with realistic-length words and sentences before real copy is ready, whether that's a website mockup, a print layout, a CMS template or a slide deck. It has looked the same, more or less, since the 1500s, and every major design tool (Figma, Adobe InDesign, Sketch) still ships it as the default placeholder for exactly this reason: it reads as "text-shaped" without anyone stopping to read what it says.
Example
Twelve words, starting with the traditional opening:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit labore repellendus anim esseOne full sentence:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit eiusmod.Two paragraphs:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur adipiscing elit dolor officia saepe nihil, incididunt. Sint nisi similique ea voluptatibus odio velit hic, eiusmod perferendis facere pariatur enim fugiat. Enim molestias optio laborum necessitatibus proident expedita blanditiis deserunt. Temporibus repudiandae do necessitatibus ad pariatur aliquip, facere qui expedita earum.
Earum anim maxime est voluptatibus officiis cumque recusandae qui nisi quas laborum, sapiente. Veniam ipsum necessitatibus voluptates non laboris tenetur. Aliqua pariatur reprehenderit ea sapiente omnis voluptate reiciendis repudiandae deserunt, occaecati recusandae duis commodo veniam sunt eos ullamco.Options explained
- Unit. Words for a single short line (a button label or heading mockup), Sentences for a line of body copy, Paragraphs for full blocks of text.
- How many sets the count of whichever unit is selected, from 1 to 50.
- Start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" opens the very first word/sentence/ paragraph with the traditional line everyone recognizes; turn it off if you specifically want text that reads like the middle of the passage instead.
- Generate produces a fresh, independently random batch; the box also fills in automatically on page load and whenever an option changes.
Edge cases and common errors
- Count is capped at 50 per click to keep the page responsive: "Choose a count between 1 and 50."; click Generate again for another batch rather than requesting one enormous one.
- Every click replaces the text rather than appending to it, so copy or download a batch before generating a new one if you need to keep it.
- Words mode has no punctuation by design, since a short run of words is usually going into a label or heading, not a sentence.
- Nothing is sent anywhere. Every batch is generated locally in your browser; this page could be disconnected from the network entirely and still work.
Do the same thing in code
// JavaScript: a minimal version of this tool's own approach
const words = ["lorem", "ipsum", "dolor", "sit", "amet", "consectetur", "adipiscing", "elit"];
const text = Array.from({ length: 12 }, () => words[Math.floor(Math.random() * words.length)]).join(" ");
// Math.random() is fine here: nothing about placeholder text is security-sensitive.Once your layout has placeholder text in it, a real identifier is often the next thing you need: the UUID Generator for a mock database row, or the Password Generator for a test account.
